MAT 142 - College Mathematics MAT 142 - College Mathematics College Mathematics applies practical knowledge of college-level mathematics to real-life problems. Topics include critical thinking, proportional reasoning, linear and exponential growth and decay, geometry, personal finance, probability, and statistics, with an emphasis on understanding concepts and their applications. College Math is recommended for students majoring in the liberal arts, elementary education, and the social sciences whose major does not require College Algebra or Precalculus. MAT 1142 Prerequisite: Multiple measures discussion, or appropriate score on placement exam, or MAT 121 or MAT 101 with a ‘C’ or better Search Course Schedule for availability
