BIO 205 - Microbiology with Lab BIO 205 - Microbiology with Lab This course is a comprehensive study of microorganisms, their importance in the biosphere, and their role in disease in human and non-human hosts. Topics covered will include anatomy and physiology of prokaryotic, eukaryotic, and acellular microorganisms, microbial metabolism and growth, microbial genetics and biotechnology, classification of microorganisms, microbial epidemiology and pathogenicity, and host defenses and immunology. Laboratory activities will include various techniques and applications in microscopy and the staining, culturing, and isolating of diverse microorganisms.
