MEDA 1135 — Laboratory Skills
Laboratory Skills focuses on the role of the medical assistant in the laboratory setting. CLIA-waived testing is studied and performed in the laboratory areas of urinalysis, immunology, hematology, chemistry and microbiology. Specimen collection, quality control and documentation of test results are included. Additional topics explored include electrocardiology, respiratory testing and emergency preparedness. The class also reinforces the fundamental laboratory skills of infection control, safety and phlebotomy taught in MDLT1100.
Prerequisites: MDLT 1100
