POE 1595 — Criminal and Civil Procedure

| Lecture Criminal and Civil Procedure provides a framework for criminal procedure including individual rights, the criminal court system, arrest, probable cause, admissions, confessions, identification procedures, and evidence. This course includes the study of the Bill of Rights, search and seizure, the exclusionary rule. The focus is to provide the entry level peace officer with a practical working knowledge of the constitutional issues that relate to the collection, recovery, and preservation of evidence in criminal cases. In addition, students will become familiar with the basics of law enforcement's role in civil issues. Prerequisities: SOC 1310
