POE 1528 — Community Policing

| Lecture Students will examine the following community policing issues: community interaction, community response, community partnerships, police ethics and misconduct, leadership, crime prevention, crisis intervention including recognizing and handling abnormal persons, stress management, officer liability, selected judicial decisions, statutes, and reporting. The course explores relationships between the criminal justice system and the community with emphasis on developing positive relationships. Students will complete a service learning project during the semester. (Student can earn credit in only one course, either CRJS 2214 or POE/LAW 1528.)
