MUSC 1515 — Music Theory Fundamentals
| Lecture Music Theory Fundamentals is designed to give students a basic background in music theory. The course covers basic concepts of musical elements (Western and non -Western) and notation, including various scale patterns, key signatures, rhythm, chords, composition, ear training, and simple instrument playing. Includes an exploration of how music has changed through time and how music genres reflect their cultura l backdrop. Prior experience with musical instrument playing or note reading is helpful, but not required. MNTC Goal Area(s): 06
