| Lecture American Popular Music covers the diversity of American popular music through the study of musical styles that constitute popular music in America. It will explore the influence of diverse cultures on American popular music, including blues, jazz, rock -n-roll, country, folk, gospel, hip -hop, and other genres. The course is designed to develop listening skills and broaden an understanding of the historical development of musical styles, including an awareness of the dynamics of race and ethnicity in American culture through popular music.
