EMSV 1500 — Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
| Lecture/Lab The Emergency Medical Technician course educates participants to be a part of the nation's Emergency Medical System. Using National EMS Education Standards, this course provides students the knowledge and skills training requi red by the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). The EMT course is designed to train volunteers and professionals to assess and provide emergency care to patients with trauma, medical and environmental emergencies in the field of emergency medicine. The primary focus of the EMT is to initiate immediate lifesaving care to critical patients, assess and give treatment on scene and throughout transportation to those who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide lifesaving interventions until the patient is transferred to a higher level of care. EMT's function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight.
