ECED 1300 — Foundations of Early Childhood

| Lecture This course will explore historical and cultural foundations of Early Childhood Education programs while examining theoretical models and strategies that will enable students to develop positive interactions with young children ages birth to 8 years and their families. Attention is given to the efforts of modern programs and the research for best practices, as well as formal and informal assessment strategies to ensure cognitive, language, social -emotional and physical development. Students will make connections between content knowledge and practice through a 16-hour field experience.
