BIOL 1131 — Dendrology

| Lecture/Lab Proper identification of all the vegetation in a forest setting provides the framework for much of the future coursework in natural resources. This course covers the identification and classification of many of the trees and shrubs found throughout northern Minnesota and includes important Eastern and Western species. Students will learn to identify plants and plant assemblages as a path to understand native plant communities. The course includes a mix of classroom and field lectures, as well as field identification labs.
