Associate in Applied Sci - Dental Hygiene
With a foundation of relevant prerequisite coursework, the clinical phase of the Dental Hygiene Program prepares students to prevent and manage oral diseases. Students develop the critical thinking skills necessary to assess, diagnose, and treat many periodontal conditions. Training in patient communication techniques gives students confidence in teaching their clients the principles of preventive oral care, nutritional counseling and smoking cessation. Students also gain skills in managing health information, examining the head and neck for abnormalities, managing pain and anxiety, removing deposits from patients’ teeth with scaling and polishing procedures, and applying sealant
