4.5 Credits Students utilize the principles of medical word building to develop an extensive medical vocabulary used in healthcare occupations. This advanced course presents detailed anatomy and physiology, specialty medical areas, clinical procedures, laboratory tests, medical terms, and abbreviations. Students study practical applications with case reports, operative and diagnostic tests, and laboratory and x-ray reports. The course also emphasizes correct spelling and pronunciation. Students will be able to comprehend medical records, communicate among medical professionals, and have a high level overview of medical terms. 5
