ENGL1011 — English Composition I with Studio

6.0 Credits This course is a workshop-model course where students use writing as a process that includes planning, drafting, instructor and peer feedback, revision, and reflection to compose multiple essays and projects in a variety of modes and genres. Students use additional resources and reflect each week, developing an individual writing process. Students cultivate the critical thinking, analytical reading, and systematic writing practices that are foundational to college-level writing by expanding their own knowledge and openly engaging with new and challenging ideas through reflection, analysis, and critique. Students become self-aware, independent, confident writers who take ownership of their own writing process. Students benefit from smaller class sizes and individualized instruction.
