EMSP1420 — Advanced Cardiac Life Support

2.0 Credits Students learn to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, stroke, and hypothermic adult patient. Students will review rhythm recognition and how to use the heart monitor in the various modes of electrical therapy. The student will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms along with the management algorithm associated with the individual life threatening rhythm. The Advanced provider will learn and practice the various forms of advanced airway management along with a review of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). Note: Upon successful completion of this course the student will earn an Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. 0
