EMSP1000 — Basic Life Support
1.0 Credits Students learn to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction (choking). Students learn to recognize heart attack and stroke symptoms in adults and breathing difficulty in children. Participants will learn the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). Note: Upon successful completion of this course the student will earn a Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
