MLT0048 — Phlebotomy Practicum
This course is designed to prepare stu - dents to draw blood by venipuncture and capillary puncture and to prepare them for employment in a hospital laboratory, blood center, or other health care facility. Students are taught safe and efficient work practices in obtaining adequate and correct blood specimens, labeling speci - mens, and transporting specimens cor - rectly to the appropriate laboratory sec - tions. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and other diseases are stressed.
