The Developmental Studies courses at MMI provide an educational opportunity for stud ents to strengthen their foundational skills in preparation for college -level academic courses. Developmental courses are designed to offer individualized and group instruction in the areas of reading, standard written English, and mathematics. NOTE: Developmental courses do not confer credits that meet program or hour requirements for graduation. GENERAL EDUCATION The College requires a core of general education courses as a part of the degree program. The purpose of the general education courses is to provide cadets with a strong foundation that will prepare them for study at four -year colleges and universities. The general education core at MMI constitutes forty-five hours of the sixty-four hour degree requirement. The general education component is contained within the following subject areas: Composition 6 hours Humanities & Fine Arts 12 hours Math & Natural Science 11 hours History, Social & Behavioral Science 12 hours Military Science 4 hours (12 for ECP) Total 45 hours Mastery of the following General Education course competencies are an integral part of succeeding in the AA and AS programs at MMI: Communication Competency 1.1.
