Geology

Geology courses at Macomb explore the geological history of the earth through both lecture and laboratory components. Topics include formation and identification of rocks and minerals, geological investigation, hydrogeology, surface processes, and plate tectonics. Faculty conduct geological field work and may lead field trips. These courses support transfer to four-year institutions, with credits accepted at most public colleges and universities in Michigan. A bachelor's degree is required for careers in oil, mining, environmental services, or government; research and teaching roles require graduate degrees.
