CHEM-2260 — Organic Chemistry 1
This course is intended for science majors or those in pre-professional programs (e.g., pre-medical, pre-pharmacy, etc.). The structure, nomenclature, preparation, and reactivity of aliphatic and aromatic compounds are studied, including reaction mechanisms, stereochemistry, conformational analysis, and bonding theories. Carbocation chemistry is also studied. Functional groups and the principles of organic synthesis are introduced. (4 billable contact hrs)
