PULP 101 - Introduction to Pulp and Paper PULP 101 - Introduction to Pulp and Paper This course is designed to introduce students to the basic concepts of pulp and paper manufacturing with an overview of the entire pulping and paper making process. It covers the characteristics of wood and different types of fiber, key equipment and process variables for pulping, bleaching and chemical recovery processes, with emphasis on the kraft process. It also introduces students to papermaking variables and equipment, particularly on a Fourdrinier machine, secondary fiber processing, and the different aspects of printing and converting.
