PHYS 110 - Foundations of Astronomy PHYS 110 - Foundations of Astronomy This course presents an integrated approach to basic astronomy and astronomical concepts. Basic science skills such as the scientific method are highlighted through astronomy. Astronomic concepts will include the following topics: light and properties of light, lenses, astrophotography, and formation of the universe, galaxies, solar systems, and planets. Practical observational techniques of space objects are performed through use of telescopes. Sunspot activity is monitored via the Internet and through observations of the sun with the appropriate equipment.
