BI 103 — General Biology: Organismal Structure and Function
An introductory lab science course intended for majors in disciplines other than the biological sciences. Topics presented include plant anatomy and physiology, human anatomy and physiology, and human diseases. Additionally the course is designed to help students discover the applications of science to their everyday lives, as well as provide elements of critical thinking. Different sections of this course may emphasize different themes as indicated by the subtitles. Examples include: Nutrition and Health, Human Body, Plant and Animal Systems, Dynamic Plant and General Biology. Students may select the theme that interests them most, but the course may be used only once to meet graduation requirements. Biology 101, 102 and 103 need not be taken in numerical order. Recommended: Variable and Linear Equations, college-level reading and writing strongly recommended for success in this course. This course includes a laboratory component.
