AUT 350 — Shop Skills I
Introduces foundational shop practices and procedures essential to professional automotive service. Students learn to apply safe work habits, identify and correctly use tools and equipment, perform precision measurement and inspection, apply correct fastener tension and torque, complete basic service documentation, and locate and interpret vehicle service information. Emphasis is placed on workplace and environmental safety, accuracy, professional workflow, and adherence to manufacturer specifications. The course develops core technical and professional skills that support success in subsequent automotive coursework and preparation for industry credential assessments. Due to cohort rotation, students may complete precision measurement and inspection (PMI) and torque/fastener units in different sequences depending on section assignment. Required: Concurrent enrollment with Electrical Sys & Engine Performance or Suspension, Steering & Braking.
