HSP 100 — Hospitality Essentials
This course introduces students to the basic mathematical computation crucial to the hospitality industry. Emphasis is on using basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fraction, decimal & percentage manipulation) to complete industry specific formulas such as conversions, costing, profitability, etc. Students will learn to read and manipulate the line items on a typical invoice with respect to the cost per unit as well as be able to determine the cost of labor schedules which comprise prime costs or the basis for determining profitability in the hospitality industry. Students complete work in the lab. M1, 12 (2 laboratory hours)
