HUMS 232 - Counseling For Life Change And Loss HUMS 232 - Counseling For Life Change And Loss Examines change and loss across the lifespan and introduces interventions for human service providers as they support clients through the different phases and changes of life. Covers loss related to adverse childhood experiences, infertility, developmental differences, physical health, parental expectations, abuse, financial instability, romantic relationships, work and retirement, suicide, and independence. Interventions including meaning-making, play therapy, mindfulness, Person-Centered Approaches to Schools and Transitions (PCAST), Gottman Couples Counseling, Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and hospice care are discussed. (PCS 1.2, 3 credit hours - 3 hours lecture, 0 hours lab)
