CHEM 241 — ORGANIC CHEMISTRY I

3 credits · 3 hours

This course will emphasize the nomenclature, structure, reactivity, methods of preparation, chemical behavior, and reaction mechanisms of carbon compounds together with fundamental principles and theories of organic spectroscopy . Some applications of carbon-based compounds include proteins, medicines, artificial flavorings, and polymers . By understanding relationships between structure and reactivity, you will be able to predict reactions and formations of compounds . Prerequisite: CHEM 122 . Corequisite: CHEM 241L . (3 cr)
