Topics include an introduction to atoms, molecules, chemical bonding, soil nutrients, salinity and pH; the structure and function of biomolecules, including proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids; plant and soil cell biology; cell energy metabolism and cycling through photosynthesis and cellular respiration; molecular interactions occurring in living systems .
