PHSC 105 — Soil Science

An introduction to the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils. Students will learn how to get detailed information about soil and how to interpret that information. An emphasis is placed on agricultural soils and how to apply knowledge of soil characteristics to improve crop production and soil conservation. A significant portion of the course grade is based on a semester project that requires students to independently collect and interpret soil characteristics to recommend land use practices that promote soil conservation. Prerequisites: None
