CIS 170 — Linux Operating Systems

An introductory course that will introduce students to the basic concepts of the UNIX/Linux operating system. Topics include essential UNIX/Linux commands, login and logout sequences, setting passwords, e-mail, fundamentals of the vi editor, piping and redirection, security and process control, the Kernel, file system, shell programming, X windows, and basic system administration. Shell scripts will also be covered. This course is aligned with CompTIA Linux+ certification. Prerequisites: CIS 106 Additional Course Fee: $30.00
