0 credits · 0 hours

Dr. Mahnia and you, will examine how globalization, that is coming fast, may impact people’s everyday life in the First and Third World, and how globalization may lead to a common cosmopolitan culture. Students explore the history of globalization, and how far we may trace back this history. Such a connected world will influence cultural identity and may result in emerging and development of a global youth culture. The Materials examined are including but not limited to music, advertisements, film posters, and social/political cartoons.I earned my Ph.D. in Humanities from Leiden Institute for Area Studies at Leiden University where I received a great support from Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research. I have offered courses on the modern Persian history, both classical and modern poetry and prose, the culture of Iranians, interrelation between poetry and politics, and the mystical literature. I am currently teaching Introduction to Middle Eastern Civilizations at the College of Lake County.
