SOC 105 — SOCIOLOGY AND ETHICS FOR SURGICAL
TECHNOLOGY Course covers human anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures. Students will implement principles of aseptic technique, decontamination and sterilization as well as demonstrate preoperative preparation of the surgical site and patient. Students will execute the duties of a surgical technologist in a perioperative setting, while recognizing specialized roles and maintaining moral, legal and ethical responsibilities to the patient. Students will also identify emergent situations and be able to act accordingly. 3 credits
