LE 150 — INTERROGATION AND DOCUMENTATION

This course explores the legal issues that define the interviewing of subjects, either in consensual encounters or in custody, and various techniques to enhance information obtained including analysis of verbal and non-verbal actions and how they relate to truth or deception of persons during the interview process. Documentation of encounters to include field interviews will be addressed. Students will engage in practical exercises concerning proper report/statement writing skills. Emphasis will be placed on the gathering and documentation of pertinent information and construction of report narratives using clear, concise language. 3 credits
