This course covers safe work habits in the lab along with safe use of mechanical equipment. Students will learn how to make welds that meet or exceed American Welding Society (AWS) standards using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding process on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Welding will be performed in the Flat, Horizontal, Vertical, and Overhead positions for sheet, and 1GR and 2G positions on pipe. This course includes an AWS, Welder Qualification Test using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Process on sheet. By passing this test, students can earn a nationally recognized credential.
