ENGL 0217 - Early English Literature ENGL 0217 - Early English Literature (SGE) 060 & 070 - 3 Credit Hours Major British authors are studied within the context of their times and traditions. Through a variety of readings, including poetry, drama, and the essay, the class will explore the changing aesthetic, social, political, and ethical conventions of our literary heritage. Selected readings include English literature from Beowulf to the Neoclassical period. The survey may include works by Chaucer, Marlowe, Shakespeare, Milton, and others.
