Surgi- cal technologists work under the supervision of surgeons to ensure safe, efficient, and sterile surgical procedures. They are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, handling surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting in procedures across various specialties, including cardiothoracic, orthopedic, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmic, ENT, and podiatry. Graduates of this program will gain expertise in aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, and patient safety protocols, equipping them to work in hospital surgery departments, obstetric units, endoscopy suites, and outpatient surgery centers. This program provides the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to support surgeons in both invasive and non-invasive procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Students are required to achieve a minimum “C” grade in all program required courses, complete all accreditation/program required lab/Practicum hours/cases/procedure min- imums, and sit for the NBSTSA National Certification Exam upon completion.
