This course focuses on the operational knowledge and skills needed for safe and effective patient care within the paramed- ic’s scope of practice. Content areas include: research, para- medic roles and responsibilities, well-being of the paramedic, illness and injury prevention, medical-legal-ethical issues, therapeutic communications, medical terminology, life span development, ambulance operations, medical incident com- mand, rescue awareness and operations, hazardous materials incidents, crime scene awareness, and Alabama EMS laws and rules.

Prerequisites: EMS 189, BIO 201
