ADN409 — Medical Surgical Nursing of the Adult 3

Topics include emergency and trauma nursing, skin and burn disorders, reproductive and sexual health, and musculoskeletal disorders. Coursework develops skills in the nursing process, patient interviewing, goal-setting, and implementing interventions for health maintenance and promotion. Emphasis is placed on preparing students to navigate the challenges of nursing practice, including managing reality shock, burnout, and conflict in the workplace. The associated clinical component includes an acute medical-surgical care setting, critical care experiences (including intensive or emergency care), and a required preceptorship designed to foster independent critical thinking and a seamless transition to professional nursing. Students will complete a clinical preceptor experience, who will serve as a role model and resource to enhance clinical skills and professional development. Course Learning
