Introduces the student to the history and theory of plays, playwrights, and the various arts and crafts of the theatre. Students will attend two play productions selected by the instructor. Major Content Areas The social and historic context of the theatre, including exploration of the history and evolution of theatre. The elements of performance and of different theatre spaces. The roles and duties of different theatre artists involved in a production. Theatrical criticism. Dramatic text and literature and the analysis of such pieces. Live theatre by experiencing the theatre arts in practice and engaging with theatre artists. Learning
