READ 0099 - Introduction to Academic Reading READ 0099 - Introduction to Academic Reading 3 Credits Introduces students to college reading strategies and purposes. Special attention is paid to vocabulary development, note-taking, and reading comprehension strategies. Placement Level READ 0099: Reading Workshop Analyze and respond to readings critically, creatively, and personally. Practice independent and self-regulated reading. Evaluate the validity and reliability of source material. Describe and demonstrate the use of several strategies for understanding difficult vocabulary. Demonstrate an increase in background knowledge in target content areas. Use and describe the benefits and drawbacks of various graphic organizers and other note-taking strategies.
