MUSC 1145 - World Music MUSC 1145 - World Music 3 Credits Explores music of the world’s cultures through examining a survey of traditional musical cultures from around the globe and an introduction to the ethnomusicological approach to the study of the world’s music. This approach studies music as a part ofa community’s culture which reflects itself through how music is used in the society, who creates and performs it and how its elements and form demonstrate the values of its practitioners. The focus is on learning how musicians around the world undestand their own music, and on exposure, appreciation and understanding of basic musical and cultural elements from the selected regions.
