EMS 2488 - Paramedic Patient Care Internship I EMS 2488 - Paramedic Patient Care Internship I 4 Credits Provides competency-based clinical experiences in emergency medical services field response units, hospitals, health care clinics and other venues. Students perform advanced life support skills and patient assessments, formulate differential diagnoses, and direct patient care teams. Students are under the supervision of a preceptor or instructor. To complete the requirements of the course students will need to receive a criminal background clearance. Please refer to the Criminal Background section of the catalog for more information on the criminal background study. Safely and effectively perform paramedic psychomotor skills within the National EMS Scope of Practice mode and state Scope of Practice at this level. Anticipate and prospectively intervene to improve patient outcome. Demonstrate exemplary professional behavior including but not limited to: integrity, empathy, self-motivation, appearance/personal hygiene, self-confidence, communications, time management, teamwork/diplomacy, respect, patient advocacy, and care. Perform a comprehensive history and physical examination to identify factors affecting the health and health needs of a patient. Formulate a field impression based on an analysis of comprehensive assessment findings, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and epidemiology.
