4.0 HR. (OC) Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score. This beginning course in American Sign Language (ASL) introduces basic expressive and receptive vocabulary and linguistic principles. Topics covered include parameters, non-manual markers, ASL grammar rules, fingerspelling, numeric concepts, and basic conversational skills. Two lecture and four laboratory hours per week.
