3.0 HR. (TC) Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. This course is designed to acquaint the student with major factors from the Ancient, Medieval, and Early Modern periods that have contributed to the development of modern society. The course will emphasize such developments as Greek philosophy; the origins and development of Christianity; the rise of feudalism, manorialism, and nation-states during the Medieval period; the Renaissance; the Reformation; and the emergence of modern economic and political thought. Every section of this course will include a significant writing component. Three lecture hours per week or equivalent. (S2 902)
