EDUC111 — Intro American Education
3.0 HR. (TC) Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. An introduction to the field of American education, this course will cover history, philosophy, financing, legal aspects, and current issues of American education. Students will be given a general overview of how American schools came to be and how they function today. They will be introduced to the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards. Students will participate in a minimum of 15 documented clinical experiences involving observation of child learners and practitioners at work, according to specified guidelines.Three lecture hours per week.
