3.0 HR (OC) This course is designed to be a broad survey course that will be beneficial for a wide range of students, including students from diverse academic backgrounds. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the way people work and the way a multitude of industries function. Students will learn how to use AI to increase productivity and efficiency for a variety of tasks, as well as how to use AI in creative endeavors. Issues such as determining reasonableness of responses, appropriate use, and ethical issues with AI, as well as legal concerns, organizational restrictions, licensing, intellectual property, copyright issues, and proprietary/confidential information will be discussed. In addition, this course will cover aligning AI to support problem solving, discuss impact on existing industries, and look at possible future directions of AI. This course is an introduction to AI and does not require prior AI or programming experience. It is designed to provide hands-on experience with a variety of AI tools as well as a solid understanding of the principles, best practices, and possibilities of AI. Three lecture hours per week.
