4.0 HR. (TC) Prerequisite: Approved reading placement score, or equivalent. This introductory course in American Sign Language (ASL) introduces basic expressive and receptive ASL vocabulary and linguistic principles. Topics covered include parameters, non-manual markers, ASL grammar rules, fingerspelling, numbers, and basic conversational skills. Three lecture hours and two laboratory hours per week or equivalent.
