MUS 161 — Theory I

Introduction to the elements of music: rhythm, melody, and harmony. The student will begin study of the harmonic language of the Baroque and Early Classical period, with special attention paid to the music of J.S. Bach. Covers harmonic concepts up to and including the dominant seventh chord and on-harmonic tones. Student must be registered concurrently in Aural Skills I ( MUS 154 ). IAI Code: MUS 901
