PLST2012 — Extrusion Processes I
This course is designed to introduce the student to the safe use of single screw extruder operation and controls. This course teaches the fundamentals of single screw technology, while emphasizing the safe operation and potential hazards that come with operating a single screw extruder. In this course, students will be introduced to multiple single-screw extruders, throughput testing, pelletizing, profile and sheet extrusions. This course utilizes an industry-leading, internet based interactive training program, Paulson Training, to promote safe usage of standard extrusion equipment and processes. Students will be introduced to the set-up, operation, shut-down and troubleshooting processes of several different extrusion dies and downstream equipment. Personnel in many positions, from machine operators to process engineers, will find the information in this course valuable to help make their work with the extrusion processes more efficient, including the knowledge needed to make informed decisions on the production floor.
