HSER1100 — Introduction to Social Work and Human Services

This is an introductory level course that will develop students’ knowledge of human services professions and values. Major topics covered include history and evolution of the social work and human services professions, varied areas professionals can practice in, roles and responsibilities of the profession. Students will self-assess and evaluate personal attitudes regarding human diversity, oppression and privilege as it relates to issues of social justice and systemic oppression.
