FRPT1250 — Incident Command for Emergency Services
This course explores basic emergency management principles for public safety personnel. Topics such as incident command systems (ICS) and The National Incident Management System (NIMS) will be covered and will meet requirements for professional licensure in various areas of public safety including the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board, the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training, and the Minnesota Fire Service Certification Board. This course also satisfies various prerequisites to attended training at the national level through the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium. Additionally, students will also cover topics included as part of the Federal Emergency Management Agencies’ (FEMA) Professional Development Series that provide a well-rounded set of fundamentals for those in the emergency management profession. Many students build on this foundation to develop their careers. Upon completion of the Professional Development Series, students will earn a certificate from FEMA.
